Brooklyn man faces drug-selling charges

JOHNSTOWN-A Brooklyn man was charged Friday with drug sales in the city.

Akim J. Charles, 29, of 562 Grand Ave., apartment 3, Brooklyn, was charged by city police with three counts each of sale of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, each a felony.

According to police, Charles was picked up by Gloversville police and turned over to Johnstown police. Charles was the subject of a six-month investigation into drug sales around South Melcher Street and North Market Street. The investigation came following complaints by neighborhood watch organizations and citizens.

Charles was arraigned on a six-count sealed indictment in Fulton County Court on Monday before Judge Richard Giardino and remanded to the Fulton County Jail on no bail.
