Gloria M. Dykeman

Mrs. Gloria M. Dykeman, of Ingersoll Road, in the town of Glen, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, following a brief illness.

Born in Richmond Hill, NY, on March 25, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Wildermuth Koos. Gloria was a graduate of Jamaica Vocational High School in Queens County, Jamaica, NY. She moved to Fultonville, NY in 1970 and worked as a farmer’s wife and bookkeeper for the family farm. She was a member of the Glen Reformed Church, taught Sunday school and held Bible studies from her home for many years. She also played the piano at church and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Gloria served as a den mother for the Scouts and a 4-H leader.

Her loving family includes husband of over 55 Years, Mortimer “Mort” Dykeman; sons, Roy M. Dykeman and his wife Janine and Raymond J. Dykeman and his wife Brenda, all of the town of Glen; beloved grandson, Kyle R. Dykeman. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Amos Dykeman; and sisters-in-law, Aurore Koos and Joan Dykeman. She also leaves behind her loving and faithful K-9 companion, Daphne.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Glen Reformed Church, Route 161, Fultonville, NY 12072. A memorial service will follow at 1 p..m. with the Rev. Tom Flanders. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Glen Reformed Church or to the Glen Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the church. Gloria was proud to have been gifting her body to science at Albany Medical College. An interment of her cremated remains will take place privately in the future at the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville.
