Police: Second victim identified

GLOVERSVILLE – The second victim from the assault Tuesday on Fremont Street has been located by police, Chief Donald VanDeusen said Friday.

He said the victim, known as Cliff, is a 26-year-old man from the Utica area and has injuries related to the incident, including a broken ankle and contusions on the head and face, which confirm he was assaulted with a hammer.

Police said they are not releasing his name at this time.

VanDeusen said the man is being interviewed by detectives, and the investigation is ongoing.

He said the man sought medical attention on his own and was concerned about contacting authorities, so he hid for a couple of days.

On Wednesday, police arrested four Brooklyn men in the investigation of a Tuesday night beating of a man at 77 Fremont St. However, police said only one of those men is believed to be involved in the incident – although police haven’t identified the person.

Police said they are looking for more suspects.
