H.S. Softball Roundup: Huskies blanked by Scotia-Glenville

MECO – Zoe Purvis struck out 12 to lead Scotia-Glenville to a 14-4 win over Gloversville in a Foothills Council softball game at Meco Ball Park.

Purvis allowed just four hits to earn the complete-game victory. Purvis also went 4-for-4 at the plate for Scotia-Glenville (7-0 overall, 6-0 Foothills).

Allison Stuart had a three-run triple for the Tartans, while Alyssa McKenna hit a home run.

Lauren Melanson added three hits and two RBIs for Scotia-Glenville, and Ashley O’Neill had a double and single.

Jenny Vickery had two singles for Gloversville (3-7 overall, 2-5 Foothills), while Emily Washburn and Shawna Funk each had singles.

MOREAU – Amber Bourdeau threw a one-hitter to lead South Glens Falls to a Foothills Council win over Queensbury.

Bourdeau struck out seven and walked four to earn the complete-game win for the Bulldogs.

Jill Ostrander went 2-for-3 with a home run for South Glens Falls (7-2 overall, 5-1 Foothills), while Emily Sharpe was 2-for-2.

Alyssa Sparacia had a single for Queensbury (4-4 overall, 3-3 Foothills).

QUEENSBURY – Kate LaPan went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple to lead Hudson Falls to a win over Glens Falls.

Tanner Barton pitched a four-hitter and struck out seven to earn the complete-game win for Hudson Falls (2-4 overall, 2-4 Foothills), while Alycia Stevens contributed two hits and three RBIs.

Kylie Tripp, Barton and Geneva Strong each had two hits for the Tigers.

Ruby Caprood had two hits for Glens Falls (5-4 overall, 5-2 Foothills.

Mayfield 7, Galway 5

GALWAY – Lyndsey Barber and Kristina Auty each had a single and a double to lead Mayfield to a Western Athletic Conference win over Galway.

Julie Hampton and Sydney Benton each had a single and an RBI for the Lady Panthers, while Mackenzie Biggers had two RBIs on a pair of sacrifice bunts. Kiera Davis had a single and a run scored for Mayfield, and Maria Messina had a RBI on a sacrifice bunt.

Amber Costa earned the win in the circle for Mayfield (4-9 overall, 4-7 WAC), allowing eight hits, striking out two and walking two.

Shelby Suits had two doubles and two RBIs for Galway (5-5 overall, 4-4 WAC), while Emily Zawisa added a double.

On Saturday, Mayfield went 0-2 at the Papierniak Tournament on Saturday at Fonda-Fultonville High School.

In their first game, the Lady Panthers lost 12-4 to Amsterdam.

Messina had two singles for Mayfield, while Biggers and Benton each had RBI singles. Hampton and Auty also had singles for the Lady Panthers.

In the other first-round contest, host Fonda-Fultonville blanked Gloversville, 3-0.

In the consolation game, Mayfield lost 12-0 to Gloversville.

Biggers had a single for the Lady Panthers.

The championship game between Fonda-Fultonville and Amsterdam was postponed with no make-up date set.

BERNE – Bailey Wood had two hits to lead Middleburgh to a WAC win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

AMSTERDAM – Michela Puglisi pitched a complete-game four-hitter to lead Amsterdam to a win over Albany on Monday.

Puglisi struck out 10 and walked just four in seven innings of work for the Lady Rams.

Ashley Przybylowicz had an RBI triple for Amsterdam (4-4 overall, 1-3 Big 10), while Tessa Filiberto had an RBI double.

Allie Krohn had a two-run single for the Lady Rams, Amber Richardson-Iannotti had an RBI single, and Stephanie DeLorenzo had a single and two runs scored.

Michaela Pickett had a single and an RBI double for Albany.
