H.S. Softball Roundup: Gloversville loses to Queensbury

GLOVERSVILLE – Amy Zuccaro and Alyssa Sparacia each went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Queensbury to a 9-2 win over Gloversville in a Foothills Council softball game Monday.

Lindsey Ziegler went 2-for-3 with a stolen base for Queensbury (4-3 overall, 3-2 Foothills), while Sarah O’Brien tripled and had three RBIs.

Jenny Vickery and Megan Patterson each went 2-for-3 for Gloversville (3-6 overall, 2-4 Foothills). Vickery had a triple and a double for the Huskies, while Patterson added a triple. Emily Washburn added a single for Gloversville.

CANAJOHARIE – Brittany Pitonza was 4-for-5 with a double to lead Canajoharie to a WAC win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Lauren Balfe was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Lady Cougars, while Madyson Casler was 2-for-3 with five RBIs.

Jenna Shepard had three hits for Canajoharie, while Bri Slater, Carly Baker and Morgan Gray each had two hits.

Kaitlyn Curvin was 3-for-4 with a double for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, while Michaela Horlacher and Shea Murphy each had two hits.

On Sunday, Canajoharie topped New York Mills in the Mudville Tournament in Herkimer.

Pitonza and Shepard each had two hits for the Lady Cougars.

Casler earned the win in the circle for Canajoharie, allowing two hits, striking out one and walking six.

Kyleigh Hayner had a double and a single for OESJ, while Samantha Mumford had two singles. Samantha LaCoppola and Megan Bradt added doubles for the Lady Wolves.

Leann Clark earned the win in the circle, allowing six hits, striking out 12 and walking three in ninne innings of work.

Cassidy Coons struck out 15 and allowed nine hits for Middleburgh.

Carly VanNostrand allowed four hits, struck out two and walked two four Mayfield.

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Emily McCarty had two doubles, a home run and seven RBIs to power Saratoga Central Catholic to a WAC win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Amelia Bielefeld had three singles and three RBIs for Saratoga Catholic (4-4 overall, 4-3 WAC), while Sloan Conner had three singles, a double and three RBIs. McKenzie Franck had three singles and three RBIs for the Saints.

Lexy Rychick had two triple for Mekeel Christian (0-7 WAC), while Nicole Barratiere had a double.
