Amsterdam man faces felony charge

PERTH – State police said an Amsterdam man was arrested Sunday on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated.

Mark Vickers, 40, also was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

According to troopers, Vickers was sleeping in a vehicle stopped at the intersection of County Highway 107 and Route 30 in Perth.

Troopers said Vickers had a strong odor of alcohol coming off of his breath and from inside the vehicle. Troopers said they attempted to administer sobriety tests, but Vickers refused. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Troopers said an investigation revealed Vickers had two prior DWI convictions in the past 10 years, and his license was revoked.

Vickers is being held on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for today at 4:30 p.m.
