H.S. Softball Roundup: Fort Plain tops Galway

FORT PLAIN – Haley Kilmartin had a double and a single to lead Fort Plain to a 4-3 win over Galway in a Western Athletic Conference softball game Friday.

The Lady Hilltoppers trailed 3-1 after four innings before scoring twice in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3 before plating the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Sierra Logan had a single, double and an RBI for Fort Plain (4-6 overall, 4-4 WAC), while Alexis Hagadorn plated the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth.

Fort Plain improved to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in WAC play with the win.

Sabrina Williams and Jessi Freebern each had doubles for Galway (4-3 WAC).

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 5, Schoharie 4

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to rally for a win over Schoharie.

Leann Clark was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Lady Wolves, while Marissa Nellis was 2-for-2. Caitlyn Handy, Merari Freeman, Kyleigh Hayner and Samantha LaCoppola each had singles for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (7-2 overall, 7-1 WAC), which won its sixth straight game.

Clark also earned the win in the circle for the Lady Wolves, striking out nine, walking three and allowing 10 hits in seven innings.

Ally Liddle had two hits for Schoharie.

Mayfield 11, Mekeel Christian 9

MAYFIELD – Sydney Benton had a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored leading Mayfield to a win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Kristina Auty had two singles for Mayfield (3-6 overall, 3-6 WAC), while Karleigh VanNostrand had two singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Caitlin Tomlinson and Kiera Davis each had singles and RBIs for the Lady Panthers.

Middleburgh 7, Canajoharie 2

MIDDLEBURGH – Cassidy Coons was 2-for-3 to lead Middleburgh to a win over Canajoharie.

Bailey Wood added a solo home run for the Knights, while Susie Risch went 2-for-3.

Shyanna Logan had two doubles for Canajoharie (5-3 overall, 5-3 WAC), while Bri Slater had two singles.

Lauren Balfe added a double for the Lady Cougars.

SHARON SPRINGS – Sarah Crimain had four hits and seven RBIs to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a WAC win over Sharon Springs.

Amanda Meacham had two hits and five RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Morgan Daignault had a double, triple and a single for Sharon Springs (0-10 overall, 0-9 WAC), while Kara VanArsdal had a triple and two singles.
