Sewer rates passed with slight increase

JOHNSTOWN – Fairly stable sewer rates were adopted by the Gloversville-Johnstown Joint Sewer Board Wednesday at City Hall.

Board action followed a public hearing at City Hall in which no one spoke.

The 2014 Gloversville-Johnstown Wastewater Treatment Facility sewer rates for residential users will remain about the same as for 2013. That rate is $2.38 per 1,000 gallons of wastewater. That is actually 1 cent less than the $2.39 rate adopted 10 years ago in 2004. The average total annual sewer bill for a family of three shows an overall 0.5 percent increase. The cost of that average bill would be $205.

Industrial sewer users will increase by about 1 percent in 2014, although actual invoice totals vary from industry to industry, based on actual monthly use.
