Mother sues over child’s injury

JOHNSTOWN – The mother of a then-kindergarten student is suing the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District because she claims her child was permanently injured in gym class two years ago.

Tressa Rossi, of 494 McQueen Road, Amsterdam, filed a civil lawsuit Monday in state Supreme Court in Johnstown against the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District Board of Education because of injuries to her son.

She claims the district “failed to supervise” a May 18, 2012, gym activity in the district’s Learning Center at 100 Bridge St., Broadalbin, when her then-kindergarten student fell off a bicycle, “hitting his face on the handlebars,” court papers state.

Rossi, represented by Gloversville attorney George Abdella, claimed in court papers her son suffered “serious personal injury.” The lawsuit seeks no specific punitive damages.
