Man tore bench off wall, police say

GLOVERSVILLE – State police said an Amsterdam man tore a bench off a wall at the troopers station in Mayfield.

Daniel A. Jackowski, 28, of Amsterdam was charged by state police April 13 with violating his probation, a felony, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content higher than or equal to 0.08 percent, refusal to take a breath test and a seat belt violation.

Jackowski was arrested on Apple Street in the city, police said. He was taken to the state police station in Mayfield. Police said troopers found he was in possession of an electronic stun gun.

Police said while Jackowski was at the station he was hitting his head against the wall, kicking with a shackled leg and throwing himself on the floor. While he was handcuffed to the prisoner bench, police said, Jackowski tore the bench from the wall.

Jackowski was arraigned and sent to the Fulton County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond for the offenses in the city, and $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond for the offense in Mayfield.

Jackowski was scheduled to appear in City Court and Mayfield Town Court.
