Track & Field Roundup: Canajoharie sweeps Mayfield-Northville

CANAJOHARIE – The Canajoharie boys and girls track and field teams both posted wins over Mayfield-Northville in a Western Athletic Conference meet Tuesday.

The Canajoharie boys won 84-53, while the girls posted a 96-36 victory.

In the boys meet, Canajoharie won 10 of 17 events on its way to the win.

Logan Sala won the high jump and 800 meters for Canajoharie, while Jordan Brownell won the 200 and 400 meters. Zach Folts added wins in the shot put and discus for the Cougars, while Blade Mead won the 100 meters. Canajoharie also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays,

Todd Briggs won four events for Mayfield-Northville, taking first in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, long jump and triple jump. Connor Akowicz won the 1,600 and 3,200 meters for Mayfield-Northville, while Mitch Akowicz won the pole vault.

In the girls meet, Canajoharie won 12 of 16 events on its way to the win.

Jordyn Logan won the high jump and 800 meters for Canajoharie, while Ariannah Logan won the long jump and 400 meters. Mackenzie Montanye won the shot put and discus for the Lady Cougars, while Jordan Porter (200), Morgan Koelbl (400 hurdles), Christina Towse (triple jump) and Paige Shovelton (100 hurdles) also posted wins. Canajoharie also won the 3,200 and 1,600 relays.

Alyssa Davis won the 1,500 and 3,000 meters for Mayfield-Northville, while Kaylee Bumpus won the 100 meters. Mayfield-Northville also won the 400 relay.

Amsterdam still unbeaten

AMSTERDAM – The Amsterdam boys and girls teams remained unbeaten in Big 10 competition with wins over Christian Brothers Academy and Catholic Central.

The Amsterdam boys posted a 106-73 win over CBA and a 132-23 win over Catholic Central, while the girls notched a 114-58 win over Catholic Central

In the boys meet, the Rams won 12 of 17 events on their way to the victory.

Izaiah Brown won the 200 meters, 400 meters and high jump for Amsterdam, while David Graveley won the 110 and 400 hurdles. Julian Gallup (long jump), Omahri Sturdivant (triple jump), Giacamo Lanzi (shot put) and Jose Perez (discus) also posted wins for the Rams.

Amsterdam also won the 400 and 1,600 relays.

In the girls meet, the Lady Rams won 13 of 17 events to cruise to the victory.

Olivia Lazarou won the 800 and 1,500 meters for Amsterdam. Illenis Quinones (3,200), Madison Janetsky (triple jump), Allison Dixon (discus), Cassandra Robataille (pole vault), McKenna Palczak (400 hurdles), Brenda Santana (100), Abby Wollman (long jump) and Hannah Wollman (200) also posted wins for the Rams.

Amsterdam also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

FFCS sweeps Schalmont

ROTTERDAM – The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls posted wins over Schalmont in a Colonial Council meet Tuesday.

The FFCS boys won 114-31, while thegirls prevailed 86-59.

In the boys meet, the Braves won 14 of 17 events on their way to the win.

Zach Nizet won the high jump, long jump and 200 meters for Fonda-Fultonville, while Michael Sweet won the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles.

Dylan DeSorbo won the 1,500 and 800 for the Braves, while Dalton Hunter (400), Dan Westman (3,200), Ryan Park (pole vault), Anthony Brand (shot put) and Tristan Nellis (triple jump) also posted wins.

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

In the girls meet, the Lady Braves won nine events on their way to the win.

Lindsay Therrien won the high jump, 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and triple jump for Fonda-Fultonville.

Kacie Hunter (3,000), Rebekah Hentnik (pole vault), Camryn Savoie (shot put) and Emma Rhodes (long jump) also posted wins for the Lady Braves,

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 400 relay.
