H.S. Softball Roundup: Glens Falls rolls past Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN – Rachel Lashway pitched a two-hitter, striking out 12 to lead Glens Falls to a 24-0 win over Johnstown in a Foothills Council softball contest Thursday.

Ruby Caprood and Ali Battease each had doubles for Glens Falls (2-1 overall, 2-0 Foothills), while Abbie Fairchild added a two-run single.

Johnstown slipped to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in Foothills Council play with the loss.

SCOTIA – Zoe Purvis and Alison Stuart each had two doubles to power Scotia-Glenville to a Foothills Council win over Queensbury.

Jen Mayette pitched a four-hitter for the Tartans.

Zoe Purvis finished with four hits for Scotia-Glenville (4-0 overall, 3-0 Foothills), while Stuart and Grace Purvis each had two RBIs.

Celyna Shaw had a solo home run in the fifth inning for Queensbury (0-1 overall, 0-1 Foothills).

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Lyndsey Barber had two singles for Mayfield in a 16-6 loss to Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a Western Athletic Conference softball contest Thursday.

Karleigh VanNostrand had a single and two RBIs for the Lady Panthers (1-3 overall, 1-3 WAC), while Kristina Auty, Maria Messina, Mackenzie Biggers, Sydney Benton and Caitlin Tomlinson each had singles.

Saratoga Catholic 17, Sharon Springs 1

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Liza Orsini finished with two double and four RBIs to lead Saratoga Central Catholic to a Western Athletic Conference win over Sharon Springs.

Jocelyn Maher added a double, triple and three RBIs for the Saints (1-2 overall, 1-1 WAC). while Sloan Conner had a double and three RBIs. Cat Kelly and Emily McCarty each had two RBIs for Saratoga Catholic.

Amelia Bielefeld pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in five innings for the Saints.

Emily Zawisa posted five singles and two RBIs for Galway, while Shelby Suits finished with a double, single and three RBIs.
