FMCC softball sweeps Adirondack

JOHNSTOWN – The Fulton-Montgomery Community College softball team celebrated their first home games of the season Thursday by sweeping the doubleheader from Adirondack Community College.

The Lady Raiders rallied in the bottom of the eighth to win the opener 4-3 and came back to take the night cap 10-6.

Galway’s Rebekah Reichard delivered the game-winning hit, an RBI double, to score Brittany Keator in the bottom of the eighth to break the tie and claim the Game 1 victory.

Amsterdam’s Taylor Bubniak picked up the complete game victory.

Reichard finished the game with a double and a single, while Johnstown’s Alix Leo had three singles and Duanesburg’s Stephanie Rice connected for two singles.

Johnstown’s Alyssa Palmateer pitched the complete game for the victory in the Lady Raiders 10-6 Game 2 win.

Rice connected for two singles and a double in the game, while Palmateer, Leo, Brittany Keator and Erica Redwood all had two singles apiece in the nightcap.

The Lady Raiders (2-2) return to the diamond Sunday when they host North Country Community College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
