H.S. Softball Roundup: Gloversville drops opener, 14-2

SCOTIA – Jen Mayette had three home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in eight runs to lead Scotia-Glenville to a 14-4 win over Gloversville in a Foothills Council softball game Monday.

Ali Stewart added a solo home run for Scotia-Glenville (2-0 overall), while Zoe Purvis had a double. Purvis also earned the win in the circle, striking out 10 and allowing seven hits in seven innings.

Emily Washburn and Emily Towne each had two singles and an RBI for Gloversville, while Jenny Vickery, Katlyn Pierce and Devon Davis each had singles.

DUANESBURG – Devon Hennel finished with three singles and two RBIs to power Duanesburg to a shutout win over Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference contest.

Rachel Gamache had a double and a single for the Eagles, while Kristina Hutchins had two singles and two RBIs.

Tori Powers and Sydney Foland combined on a three-hitter for Duanesburg.

Sierra Logan had a double for Fort Plain (2-3 overall, 2-1 WAC).

MAYFIELD – Mackenzie Biggers had a grand slam to lead Mayfield to a five-inning win over Sharon Springs.

Biggers finished with four RBIs and two runs scored for the Lady Panthers.

Maria Messina finished with two singles, two walks, two RBIs and a run scored for Mayfield, while Angelina Mannino had two singles, two walks and three runs scored. Sydney Benton had two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Lady Panthers, while Kristina Auty had a single, two runs scored and two RBIs. Amber Costa, Jamie Mault and Blaine Deal each had singles and an RBI for Mayfield.

Costa also earned the win in the circle, striking out five, walking one and allowing just one hit.

FONDA – Lauren Mahar struck out 13, walked one and allowed two hits to lead Schalmont to a win over Fonda-Fultonville.

Mahar also had two doubles, a single and two RBIs for the Sabres, while Taylor Dillenbene and Savana Liverio each had a double and a single.

Emilee Decker added a triple, two singles and two RBIs for Schalmont (2-0 Colonial).

Cassandra Egelston had a triple for Fonda-Fultonville (1-2 overall, 0-2 Colonial), while Miranda Nethaway added a single.
