H.S. Baseball Roundup: Queensbury blanks Gloversville

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Queensbury Spartans opened their Foothills Council baseball campaign Monday with a no-hit, 18-run victory over the Gloversville Huskies at the East Side Recreation Field.

Zack Parsons, Brett Rodriguez and Kyle Chambers combined to throw the no-hitter for Queensbury (2-0 overall, 1-0 Foothills).

Parsons struck out nine in four innings of work, while Rodriguez struck out five in two innings and Chambers added two strike outs.

Parsons connected for a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Eric Wettersten went 3 for 3 and Ryan Flansburg, Eric Daley and Joe Marasco had two hits apiece.

HUDSON FALLS – Broadalbin-Perth pushed 12 runs across the plate in the top of the seventh inning to pick up the win in its Foothills Council opener.

Logan DeNeuville had two doubles in the game for the Patriots, while Riley Martin added a triple. Zach Morreale went 5 for 5 with a double and Connor Pingitore also doubled for B-P, which pounded out 18 hits.

Cole Albrecht had a double and a single for Hudson Falls, while Bradley Wood had three singles and Tom Kiernan, Jacob Lynch and Taylor Lane had two hits apiece.

DUANESBURG – Kiernan Briggs had three singles and three stolen bases to lead Fort Plain to a win over Duanesburg.

Drew Fureno added three singles, three stolen bases and two RBIs for the Hilltoppers (1-0 overall, 1-0 WAC), while Eric Orologio smacked a two-run home run and finished with three RBIs.

Jesse Heroth earned the win on the mound for the Hilltoppers, striking out 13 and walking four in seven innings of work.

Justin Epstein had two singles and an RBI for Duanesburg (1-5 overall, 1-4 WAC).

Dan Gregory had a three-run double in the fourth inning for the Lions (3-2 overall, 2-1 WAC), while Rhein Zeronda had an RBI single in the eighth inning.

Jason Winsman had a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to force extra innings for Canajoharie (1-2 overall, 1-2 WAC).
