Flood watch issued for local counties
The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a flood watch for Fulton, Montgomery and Hamilton counties from 6 a.m. Tuesday through 8 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the warning, runoff from snow melt caused by warm temperatures over the weekend has swelled many rivers in the flood-watch area. Combined with heavy rainfall expected to be an inch or more, on Tuesday, there could be minor to moderate flooding.
Montgomery County Undersheriff Pete Vroman said the department and the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management would be monitoring the flooding.
“We certainly know how it affects our county and the [Mohawk] valley,” Vroman said.
