Track & Field Roundup: Amsterdam boys second at CBA/LaSalle relays
ALBANY – The Amsterdam boys track and field team finished second to Guilderland, while the Broadalbin-Perth boys placed seventh at the CBA/LaSalle Relays Saturday at the University at Albany.
The Amsterdam girls placed seventh and BP was eighth in the meet that was won by Bethlehem High School.
The Amsterdam boys 1,600-meter relay team of David Graveley, Jared Gallup, Julian Gallup and Izaiah Brown took top honors with a time of 3:28.40
Julian Gallup (20-01.75), Omahri Sturdivant (18-01.75) and Lucas Dorr (17-02.50) teamed up to win the long jump relay with a combined distance 0f 55-06.
The Broadalbin-Perth boys swept the shot put and discus relays.
Pierre LaPort (41-05), Doug Sutter (37-09) and Tim Zukas (34-06.5) won the shot put relay with a combined distance of 113-08.5.
LaPort topped the discus field with his throw of 113-0, which combined with Zach Romyn’s throw of 101-07 and Zukas’ 98-07 gave the Patriot throwers a winning total distance of 313-02.
Amsterdam’s Brown posted fastest time in the 200-meter dash (22.36) and led the field in the high jump with a best height of 6-04.
David Graveley posted fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 57.65 and the 110-meter hurdles with a 16.82.
Julian Gallup recorded the longest long jump distance with a leap of 20-01.75.
Broadalbin-Perth’s Greg Bogdan was second in the mile run with a time of 4:41.71.
On the girls side, Amsterdam’s Madison Janetsky posted the best jump with a distance of 30-04.5 and joined with McKenna Palczak (29-07.75) and Hannah Wollman (28-0) to take top honors in the triple jump relay with a combined distance of 88-00.25.
Broadalbin-Perth’s Anna Smith had the best throw in the shot put with a 35-01 and teamed with Harmony Zukas (24-07.5) and Lauren Smith (21-03.5) for runner-up honors in the event.
STILLWATER -The Johnstown girls track and field team finished seventh and the boys were eighth at Saturday’s Stillwater Relays.
The Lady Bills’ distance medley relay team placed second with a time of 14:24.97, while the boys’ 1,600-meter relay team was second with a time of 3:43.24.
The Sir Bills’ 1,200-meter hurdle relay team of Daeshan Buseck (1:03.14), Alec Hornidge (1:04.63) and Jonathan Bearden (104,93) placed second to Maple Hill (3:12.01) with a combined time of 3:12.70.
