Triple Crown running events planned
GLOVERSVILLE – Three local groups are joining forces to raise money, promote their causes and increase tourism in Fulton County with the 5K Triple Crown presented by St. Mary’s Healthcare.
Three 5K races will be held on three different days resulting in one male and female grand champion.
There will also be cash prizes and medals awarded and other prize drawings for those who enter the 5K Triple Crown.
Glove Cities Rotary will host the Run for the Roses 5K on May 3.
There will be a 7:30 a.m. registration and 9 a.m. run starting from Partner’s Pub, 21 S. William St., Johnstown.
Mountain Valley Hospice will host the second 5K run on Preakness Weekend on May 18 with a 9 a.m. registration and 10 a.m. run at the Fulton-Montgomery Community College campus, 2805 Route 67, Johnstown. This will be followed by their annual walk which will begin at 1 p.m. Visit www.mvhcares.org for more details and registration information.
Lexington will host its 10th Annual 5K race on the day of the Belmont on June 7 with 8 a.m. registration and a 9 a.m. run, starting from Lexington, 465 N. Perry St., Johnstown.
The registration fees will be $50 per participant until April 8 and $60 per participant between April 8 to May 1.

To be eligible for the Triple Crown, all entries must be received by 5 p.m. on May 1.
All Triple Crown entries are automatically entered to win great prizes, including: mountain bike, box seats for a day at Saratoga Race Course, a whitewater rafting trip, two seats at a New York Giants game and more.

Cash prizes will be awarded to Triple Crown winners (male/female) in the following age groups: 20 to 39; 40 to 59; 60 and older.
First place will receive $200, second place will receive $150 and third place will receive $100.
Competitors age 19 and younger will receive scholarships.
Medals also will be awarded in the following age categories: 15 and younger; 16 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50-59; 60 to 69; 70 and older.
