Manfried F. Florian
Manfried F. Florian, 79, of Fort Plain, NY, died peacefully Tuesday, April 08, 2014, with family by his side at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Fort Plain, NY, on February 19, 1935, Manfried “Manny” was the son of the late Bertha Baum and August Gustav Florian. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Plain and was united in marriage to Nancy Malinchak on October 27, 1966.
Together he and his wife of 50 years operated their dairy farm located on Paris Rd. in Fort Plain for a vast majority of their lives. Manny was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the simple things in life such as hunting, fishing, shooting and teaching his children and grandchildren the same. He made spending time with his family and friends a priority. His abundance of knowledge and wisdom, made him the “go to” guy of the family, and whether you knew him as Dad, brother, Uncle Manny, Poppie or just friend, he was always willing to lend a hand or offer his advice. It is because of this that he will be sorely missed and always remembered.
Manny was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Ursula and Frank Taylor of Fort Plain, NY; and half brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Leona Becker of St. Johnsville, NY. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Malinchak Florian and brother, Alfred Florian, of Fort Plain; and six children, Manfried Florian (Michele) of Herkimer, daughter, Deanna Belden of Fort Plain, August Florian (Billie Jo) of Fort Plain, Kevin Florian (Jackie) of Fort Plain, Mark Florian (Julie) of Fort Plain, Robert Florian of Fort Plain. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Travis and Katelyn Florian, August Jr. (Gus), C.J. and Savanna Florian, Zach, Briannah, Nate and Sarah Florian, Karissa, Stephen and Makaila Belden.
A private memorial and celebration of life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY, in his honor.
