Man faces charges after sign removed

GLOVERSVILLE – A 37-year-old man was accused Monday of removing a stop sign from First Avenue by city police.

Edwain L. Romaine, 37, of 112 N. Main St., was charged with reckless endangerment and tampering with an official traffic control device Monday.

Police said they learned a stop sign was missing Thursday from First Avenue, at its intersection with North Main Street.

Members of the department conducted an investigation, police said, identifying Romaine from city surveillance cameras.

Romaine was issued an appearance ticket to City Court.
