H.S. Softball Roundup: Canajoharie gets past Saratoga Catholic

CANAJOHARIE – Lauren Balfe finished with a home run, double and four RBIs to lead Canajoharie to a 10-8 win over Saratoga Central Catholic in a Western Athletic Conference softball game Monday.

Shyanna Logan was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Lady Cougars. Logan also earned the win in the circle for Canajoharie, allowing 15 hits and eight runs, while striking out six and walking four in seven innings of work.

Jocelyn Maher had three singles for Saratoga Catholic.

Middleburgh 5, Mayfield 2

MIDDLEBURGH – Mackenzie Biggers had two singles, a double and an RBI for Mayfield in a loss to Middleburgh.

Kristina Auty had two singles for Mayfield (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC), while Sydney Benton had a single and an RBI.

Amber Costa took the loss for Mayfield, allowing five hits, walking one, striking out one and allowing three earned runs.

Schoharie 36, Mekeel Christian 3

SCHOHARIE – Kaitlyn Kendle was 6-for-6, powering Schoharie to a WAC South Division win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Sydney Stanley, Gabbi Danthine and Rachel Randazzo each had five hits for the Indians, who pounded out 38 hits. Stanley had two home runs, while Randazzo and Danthine also homered.

Nicole Barratiere had the lone hit for Mekeel Christian, and scored all three runs.

Joanna Sydow and Morgan Daignault each had a double and single for Sharon Springs (0-2 overall, 0-1 WAC).
