Council may hire program consultant
JOHNSTOWN – The Common Council will consider hiring a consultant for the city’s new $200,000 NY Main Street Grant Program at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
The program is designed to revitalize downtown by making streetscape improvements and giving grants to owners on Main Street to renovate their buildings. The grant will pay 75 percent of streetscape improvements, up to $15,000, and the city will match 25 percent of the cost. In addition, the grant will pay for 75 percent of building renovations, and building owners will match 25 percent of the cost.
In other business, Mayor Michael Julius is expected to make appointments to the tourism and parade committees.
