Raiders sweep Twins

HUDSON – The Fulton-Montgomery Community College baseball team got its northern schedule under way Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader from Columbia-Greene Community College.

The Raider won the first game 12-0 and defeated the Twins 12-3 in the nightcap.

Dennis Buckley stepped onto the mound for FM in Game 1 and pitched a masterful five innings, striking out 11.

Gregory Ruddy went 3 for 3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored for FMCC, while catcher Andrew Houser was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Johnstown graduate Joe Nellis went 2 for 3 with a two-run home run over the right field fence.

In Game 2, Broadalbin-Perth graduate Anthony Visco pitched a complete game for the Raiders and struck out five.

FM’s big hitters were James Waters (3 for 4, double), Jason Roth (2 for 4, 2 RBI), and Matt Hecht (2 for 4, 3 RBI).

With the sweep, FMCC improved to 5-8 on the season.

The Raiders are scheduled to host Mohawk Valley Community College Sunday at 1 p.m.
