Hansen, Montanaro honored by Sage

TROY – The Sage Colleges’ department of athletics has announced the recipients of the Sage Scholar-Athlete honors for the fall of 2013.

Johnstown graduate Mallory Hansen and Amsterdam graduate Shelbi Montanaro were both honored by Sage. Hansen posted a 3.5 grade point average as part of the women’s lacrosse team, while Montanaro recorded a 3.542 GPA while competing for the women’s cross country team.

Sage created the Sage Scholar-Athlete Team last year and it recognizes Sage student-athletes who have achieved a 3.3 or better cumulative gradepoint average at the conclusion of each semester. Candidates must be members in good standing of a Sage varsity athletic team and full-time students at Sage for at least two semesters before being eligible for selection to the scholar-athlete team.

With the completion of the fall 2013 semester, Sage has 45 student-athletes that have garnered a spot on the scholar-athlete team.
