Raiders post win over Thomas Nelson CC

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders baseball team won the first game of a scheduled doubleheader 9-5 over Thomas Nelson Community College Sunday but had the second game rained out.

Freshman pitcher Christian Maldonado (Troy) tossed seven strong innings and four Raiders had multi-hit games to lead the Raiders to their second win of the young season.

Greg Ruddy (Troy), Chris Rockefeller (Gloversville), Andrew Houser (Wynantskill), and Alex Vickery (Gloversville) all had two-hit games. Jim Waters (Troy) and Shawn Strong (Oriskany Falls) both belted RBI doubles.

Rockefeller is the team’s top hitter going 12 for 18 (.667) at the plate in the first five games.

FM’s record is now 2-3.
