Man charged with aggravated DWI

GLOVERSVILLE – An intoxicated city man was arrested by police Sunday after he fled in his vehicle to his residence on Route 29A, police said.

Delian L. Wood, 39, of 2971 Route 29A, was also charged with aggravated DWI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.18 percent, speeding, failure to comply with an emergency vehicle, failure to keep right and no seatbelt.

Police said officers observed a vehicle being operated above the posted speed limit and failing to keep right on West Fulton Street heading west. A vehicle stop was initiated but Wood failed to comply and stop, police said.

He fled west on Route 29A and officers pursued him until Wood stopped near his residence, police said.

Following an investigation, police said, it was determined Wood was driving while intoxicated, and he was returned to the station for processing.

He was charged with felony DWI and aggravated DWI because his BAC was above 0.18 percent and he had been convicted of a previous DWI within the past 10 years, authorities said.

Wood was held for arraignment.
