Mrs. Margaret Farhart, 96, of Gloversville, passed away March 14, 2014, following a brief illness.
She was born September 21, 1917, in Gloversville, daughter of the late James and Clara Snell Weatherston. Margaret graduated from Gloversville High School and was a self-employed hair stylist her entire life. “Peggy,” as she was known, operated Peggy’s Beauty Shop in Gloversville for many years completing her career with Peggy’s and Marceline’s Beauty Shop, several years ago. Her many activities included the NYS Hairdresser Association, Tri-City, and Fulton County Association of which she served as past-president. She was also a former member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge.
Energetic and self-sufficient, Peggy thought little of driving to New York City by herself or to Florida to visit family and friends. She loved traveling and cherished the many wonderful friendships she enjoyed during her life. She will be sadly missed.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, George Farhart; a sister, Emma Sturm; a brother, John Weatherston; and a niece, Edith Yeldon. She is survived by a niece, Joni Dennie (Cal) of Gloversville; two great-nieces and three great-nephews and their children.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service for urn burial will take place in the spring at Ephratah Cemetery and will be announced. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Please visit the family online guestbook at www.brbsfuneral.com.
