Boil water advisory in effect in Mayfield
MAYFIELD – Officials put a boil water advisory in effect and closed the Mayfield Central School today after a water main break occured at the Mayfield Village Water Plant.
According to a news release from the village, a boil water advisory was put into effect today. Village Mayor Jamie Ward said the break in the water main came from the water plant. A PVC elbow piece for the line broke underground sometime around midnight, Ward said.
“It cracked in half,” Ward said.
According to Ward, the situation has nothing to do with previous water main issues, since it broke at the plant with new PVC pipes.
Crews from the village Department of Public Works and Gloversville Waterworks are currently working on the issue, Ward said, with the repairs expected to be finished by 5 p.m. Ward said he expects the boil water advisory to be lifted Monday.
“The guys have everything prepared and ready,” Ward said.
