Police probe death in Bleecker

BLEECKER – Authorities today continued to investigate what they called the “suspicious death” Wednesday of a town man, whose body was found with a gunshot.

Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said today his agency, assisted by state police, are investigating the death of Anthony Blowers, 25, of 649 Barlow Road.

Blowers worked as an independent contractor as a motor route driver for The Leader-Herald, according to Toni Mosconi, the newspaper’s circulation director.

A 911 call dispatched an ambulance crew to the residence at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a breathing problem.

Fulton County District Attorney Louise Sira is also investigating, but she deferred comment to Lorey.

“It’s a supicious, unattended death,” Lorey said. “We’re doing an investigation. There was a gunshot involved.”

The sheriff declined to say what part of Blowers’ body sustained the gunshot. He also declined to say whether the case involved a possible suicide.

Yellow police tape on Wednesday and this morning blocked off the property, which included the trailer Blowers lived in.

“We’re waiting on results of an autopsy today,” Lorey said.

Fulton County Coroner Margaret Luck, who will most likely attend the autopsy, couldn’t be reached this morning.

Lorey said the autopsy results, coupled with forensic information gathered by state police, should give authorities a clearer picture of what happened to Blowers.

He declined to say what kind of gun was involved in the injury to Blowers, adding “there were several guns at the scene.”
