Rockefeller, Nellis lead Raiders to win

NORTH EAST, Maryland – The Fulton-Montgomery Community College baseball team opened its season Friday with a doubleheader split with Cecil College.

Led by Gloversville graduate Chris Rockefeller and Johnstown graduate Joe Nellis, the Raiders defeated Cecil 5-1 in the first game, while the Seahawks came back to win the nightcap 5-2.

Nellis was on the mound for the opener and pitched three scoreless innings in his first outing of the season and helped the Raiders with a two-run double.

Rockefeller went 3 for 4 with a double and scored twice, while Andrew Houser was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored.

Rockefeller continued his hot hitting in the second game going 2 for 3, while Broadalbin-Perth graduate Tim Gordon was 2 for 3 in the game.

FMCC (1-1 over) will take to the diamond again Sunday for a second doubleheader against Cecil.
