Man lied about gun held to head: police

GLOVERSVILLE – A city resident was arrested Wednesday morning for falsely reporting an incident to 911, police said.

Patrick Higgs, 31, of 82 Fremont St., was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

Police said on Feb. 12 officers were dispatched to 82 Fremont St. after Higgs called 911 reporting someone was holding a gun to his head.

However, police said, a subsequent investigation revealed Higgs called and fabricated the story in an attempt to have a companion removed from the residence.

He was arraigned and sent to the Fulton County Jail.

Last week, a Nelliston man was arrested on the same charge after he falsely reported an incident that two people were brandishing handguns in the city, police said.
