Police: Man falsely reported incident
GLOVERSVILLE – A Nelliston man was arrested on Friday morning after he falsely reported an incident that two people were brandishing handguns within the city, police said.
Daniel S. Rivera, 30, of 176 Anderson Center, Nelliston, was charged by city police with second-degree aggravated harassment and third-degree falsely reporting an incident.
Police said officers were dispatched to 162 Bleecker St. for a report of a male needing help after he stated that two people were brandishing handguns.
Officers arrived and cleared the building of all occupants for safety. However, following various interviews Rivera was charged for fabricating the incident and calling 911, police said.
Capt. John Sira said Rivera was “not in a lucid state of mind” at the time of the incident.
Sira said family of Rivera stated the number that phoned the report in to 911 belonged to Rivera. Rivera was recently released from the hospital for an addiction.
