Power outage strikes counties
About 22,000 lost power Tuesday night in Fulton and Montgomery counties, according to National Grid.
National Grid Spokesman Patrick Stella said roughly 22,000 customers in the region were without power around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. According to Stella, within a half-hour, all those customers had power returned.
However, Stella said the grid had another outage at 8:45 p.m. around Amsterdam, affecting upwards of 8,300 customers. Power was sporadic throughout the night before it was turned on for good at 10:15 p.m., he said.
Stella said the problem was a damaged transmission line. Customers are operating off a temporary line until the damaged line can be repaired or replaced. Stella said he does not expect another power outage to occur during the repairs.
