T.J. Maxx set to open Thursday

JOHNSTOWN – Area officials will be on hand when the new T.J. Maxx department store at the Johnstown Shopping Center on Route 30A opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. Thursday.

According to store officials, local shoppers can celebrate opening day until 10 p.m. Reusable bags will be given to the first 1,000 customers.

T.J. Maxx’s plan to come to Johnstown was first announced two years ago. The new single-story, steel-frame store sits next to Romana’s restaurant. Based in Framingham, Mass., T.J. Maxx sells brand-name family apparel, accessories, shoes, gifts and jewelry.
