WAC announces girls all-star team

Several area players were among those selected for the recently announced Western Athletic Conference girls basketball all-star team.

Fort Plain’s Haley Kilmartin was named the WAC North Division Most Valuable Player after leading the Lady Hilltoppers to a share of the division title and a 14-6 overall record.

Fort Plain’s Abby Boyer was named a first-team all-star, along with Galway’s Erica Chase, Mayfield’s Julie Hampton, Northville’s Lyndsey Wadsworth and Canajoharie’s Alexis Kane.

Galway had Felicia Snyder and Lindsey Naughton named second-team all-stars.

Also named to the second team were Jenelle Dillenbeck, Mayfield’s Alex Sheldon and Saratoga Catholic’s Kaylie Fish.

In the South Division, Middleburgh’s Carley Ryan and Duanesburg’s Rachel Gamache shared Most Valuable Player honors.

Middleburgh, which won the WAC Cup this season, also had Amanda Roney and Taylor Cater named to the first team.

Also earning first-team honors in the South Division were Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Monique Britton and Kathryn Salo, as well as Schoharie’s Lauren Archer.

Mekeel Christian Academy’s Nicole Barratiere was named to the second team.

She was joined by Middleburgh’s Kiera Morgan, Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Delaney Martin, Schoharie’s Desiree Palmatier and Duanesburg’s Emily Barnes.
