Henry ‘Hank’ Knoop Jr.

Henry “Hank” Knoop Jr., 80, formerly of Mayfield, NY, entered into eternal life on February 17, 2014, after a brief illness. He was surrounded

with his family by his side in Summerfield, FL.

He was born the son of Gesine and Henry Knoop Sr. in Queens, NY, on June 22, 1933. He served in the Army as a medic specialist during the Korean Conflict.

Henry was married to Bernadette (Gross) on October 5, 1957. They were married for 56 wonderful, loving years.

Henry worked as a New York City fireman, retiring after many years of service. He then went on to work for Hussmann Corp. in Gloversville, until he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, boating and camping with family and friends at his home on the Great Sacandaga Lake.

Henry is survived by his wife, Bernadette; four sons, Michael (Suzy), Henry III (Tammy), Kevin, Keith; grandchildren, Henry IV, Kelly, David, Curtis, Dennis, and Mara Knoop; and several nieces and nephews.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gesine Knoop; his sisters, Tina and Martha.

In following with Henry’s request, there will be no public visitation or service. The burial will be at a later date in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, with military honors.

The family of Henry Knoop Jr. wishes to extend their gratitude to Marion County Hospice (Tuscany House) and the Veterans Administration for their assistance and support during this difficult time. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Luna Beck for her compassionate care.
