William Robeck, 91, of Petoff Garden Apartments, County Highway 155, Gloverville, died Friday, February 21, 2014, at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam following a brief illness.
He was born on July 17, 1922, on Long Island in Hicksville, NY, a son of Philip and Anna Kohut Robeck and moved to Broadalbin in 1930. Bill attended Broadalbin Central School.
Bill was employed at the former Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam and retired in the early 1970s.
He attended St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin.
Bill was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed baseball and the NY Yankees as well as football.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Viola Foss Robeck; his brother, Frank Robeck; his sister, Jennie Kudlicka; and his daughter, Dorothy Jones, who died in 2009.
Survivors include two nieces, Susann (Joseph) Lull of Manlius, NY and Carol Ann Brittain of Broadalbin; a great-niece, Michele (Joseph) Rackmyre of Broadalbin; a great-nephew, Kurtis Bott of Gloversville; two great-great nieces, Morgan and Marlysa.; and his special friend of forty-four years, Marion Chase and her family.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 7 North Street, Broadalbin, with the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia as celebrant. A celebration of his life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. in the Community Room of Building I at Petoff Garden Apartments, 305 County Highway 155, Gloversville. Final burial will take place in the spring at St. Basil’s Cemetery, Broadalbin.
