Paul R. ‘Bob’ Angus

Mr. Paul R. “Bob” Angus, 92, of Johnstown, passed away February 23, 2014. He was born February 11, 1922, in Johnstown, son of the late Alfred and Nellie Graham Angus and educated in Gloversville and Perth schools. While in school, Mr. Angus excelled at swimming and won a state championship which involved swimming across the Black River in northern New York. Paul was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing. He was an excellent carpenter and took great pride building his own home. Earlier in life, he was an air raid warden for Co. Hwy. 107, in Johnstown and a 4-H leader for many years. “Bob” as he was known, was an active member of the Berkshire Volunteer Fire Department , as well as the North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville.

A self-employed dairy farmer most of his life, Bob sold his business in 1987 and continued in the farming business working for Skiff’s Dairy until retirement in 2005. He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn A. Groff Angus of Johnstown; his children, Robert Wayne Angus (Patricia) of Abilene, Texas, Cheryl Ann Austin (Timothy) of Vail Mills and Andrew John Angus (Tammy Jean) of Bleecker. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Shawn Angus, Patrick Angus, Bonnie Lou Davis, Steve Allen Austin and Georgiana Jean Austin Angus. Bob leaves five great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Cristian, Cassandra, Jasmine and Tyler, as well as several nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Mildred Skiff of Johnstown. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Angus; and two brothers, Carl E. Angus and Alfred Angus.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Reverend Christopher Hamm, pastor of North Main St. United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
