Two State Troopers to be assigned to Wells station
FONDA – New York State Troopers Ronald Dacre and Casey Krul will be permanently assigned to the State Police Troop G satellite station in Wells, effective March 13, a news release said.
According to the release, it has been nearly two decades since a New York State Trooper was assigned to the satellite station in Wells.
“The New York State Police continually assesses the needs of the communities we serve,” Captain Douglas Keyer, Zone 3 Commander, said in the release. “I believe the residents of southern Hamilton County will be better served with a full-time presence of Troopers working out of the Wells station. I would like to thank Town of Wells Supervisor Brian Towers for his support to make this a reality.”
Both Troopers will be patrolling the southern Hamilton County towns of Wells, Lake Pleasant, Hope, Benson, Arietta and Morehouse, as well as the Village of Speculator.
In addition to their normal patrols on the roadways, both Troopers have recently completed a week-long course certifying them to utilize snowmobiles on patrol, the release said.
Prior to their assignment to SP Wells, the southern half of the county was patrolled by Troopers stationed at the Mayfield barracks 22 miles away in Fulton County.
The northern half of Hamilton County is patrolled by the State Police Troop B station in Indian Lake.
Anyone in southern Hamilton County seeking assistance from the New York State Police can contact the Troopers at 630-1700.?
