Democrats pick filmmaker for race

LONG LAKE – The Democratic chairmen in the 12 counties in the 21st Congressional District on Wednesday announced their unanimous support for Aaron Woolf of Elizabethtown, Essex County, as their candidate for the 21st Congressional District.

The seat is held by U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, who has served in Congress since 2009. Earlier this year, Owens announced he would not seek re-election in the district – which includes Fulton and Hamilton counties – this November.

According to a news release, Woolf is a small business owner who has written, directed and produced several award-winning documentary films.

The Fulton County Republican Committee recently endorsed Elise Stefanik for the 21st Congressional District. According to a news release, Stefanik is a native of upstate New York, an honors graduate of Harvard University and works in her family’s business, Premium Plywood Products, in management and marketing.
