New Ethics Board members approved
GLOVERSVILLE -The Common Council unanimously approved the appointment Tuesday of four new people to the Ethics Board, marking the first time they have been able to make those appointments.
In November, residents of the city approved the proposal to change the appointment authority to the Ethics Board from the mayor to council.
The council approved two-year appointments for Republican Helen Thompson, of 26 Sixth Ave., and Democrat Bernard Manzer, of 2 Frontage Road, apartment 1008.
Members of the council also approved three-year appointments for Democrat Ellie DiScioscia, of 11 Alexander St., and Republican JoAnn Clear, of 45 North St.
Fifth Ward Councilman Jay Zarrelli said the board is still looking to make one more appointment to the five-member board but that person can’t be affiliated with the Republican or Democratic party.
People interested in the position may pick up an application from the city clerk’s office or download the form from the city’s website – cityofgloversville.com. All completed forms should be returned to the city clerk.
