Boys Basketball Roundup: Schoharie tops Mayfield

JOHNSTOWN – James Sackett connected for 26 points to power Schoharie to a 53-36 win over Mayfield in a Western Athletic Conference boys basketball crossover contest Saturday at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

He was joined in double-digits by Connor Brown with 12 points and Daryl Silverlieb with 11.

Mayfield was paced by Josh Gallup and Dylan Lanza who finished with eight points apiece.

JOHNSTOWN – The Knights erased a 14 point halftime deficit with a 31 point third quarter en route to defeating OESJ in WAC crossover action Saturday at FMCC.

Troy Hinckley and Tanner Van Allen led Middleburgh with 23 and 22 points respectively.

Johnny Viccarelli led the Wolfpack with 17 points, while Andrew Hart added 14 and Payten Johnson added 10.

Oppenheim-Ephratah will travel to Galway for a WAC crossover contest Monday at 7:30 p.m.

JOHNSTOWN – Evan Pescetti scored 21 points to lead Saratoga Central Catholic to a win over Duanesburg in a WAC Cup semifinal contest Friday at FMCC.

Michael Naughton finished with 11 points for Saratoga Catholic, while Brian Hall added 10.

Kevin Lenehan scored 13 points to lead Duanesburg, while Chris Smalls added 12.

Saratoga Catholic will face Mekeel Christian Academy on Tuesday at FMCC at 7:30 p.m. in the WAC Cup final.

JOHNSTOWN – After trailing 10-8 after one quarter, Mekeel Christian Academy outscored Canajoharie 46-28 over the final three quarters to post a win in a WAC Cup semifinal contest Friday at FMCC.

Dillan Veeder scored 15 points and had five assists to lead Canajoharie (10-7 overall), while Josh Gonzalez added eight points and 19 rebounds.
