Amsterdam declares snow emergency

AMSTERDAM – The city will declare a snow emergency, effective at 6 p.m. today.

The snow emergency requires all motor vehicles be removed from city streets by 6 p.m. today, a news release said. Vehicles must remain off city streets until the snow emergency is lifted.

Motorists looking for parking can visit the city Police Department Facebook page to view a list of city-owned parking lots, the release said.

The list also is available in the “SNOW” pamphlet that was mailed to city residents in November. More pamphlets are available at the city Police Department or at the Treasurer’s Office in City Hall.

A second news release will be sent to notify the public when the snow emergency will be lifted.
