Canajoharie’s Dillenbeck named first-team all-state
Several area players were among those selected for the all-state girls soccer team.
Canajoharie senior Jenelle Dillenbeck was named to the Class C first team, while Canajoharie junior Jordyn Logan was named to the fifth team.
Jenelle Dillenbeck, who was named the WAC North Division MVP, finished her senior season with 42 goals and 10 assists, leading the Lady Cougars to a 17-4 overall record.
Canajoharie won the Section II Class C title before losing to Northern Adirondack, 3-1, in regional play at Plattsburgh High School. The Lady Cougars also won the WAC North Division title this season with a 10-1 league mark. Logan posted 16 assists and eight goals in her junior campaign for the Cougars.
Also named to the all-state team in Class C were Middleburgh’s Amanda Roney (second team), Hoosic Valley’s Sydney Fitzpatrick (third team), Schoharie’s Seana Cleveland (fourth team), Galway’s Erica Chase (fifth team) and Waterford-Halfmoon’s Ashley Lefebvre (fifth team).
Broadalbin-Perth senior Katie Herba was named second-team all-state in Class B.
Also named to the Class B all-state team were Hoosick Falls’ Hannah Fricke (first team), Schalmont’s Madeline Saccocio (second team), Hoosick Falls’ MacKenzie Hinchcliffe (second team), Catholic Central’s Madison Purcell (third team), Ichabod Crane’s Mariella Jacome (third team), Schalmont’s Kennedy Cronk (fourth team), Catholic Central’s Kelsey Moss (fourth team) and Greenville’s Carly Johnson (fifth team).
In Class D, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville’s Skyler Viveros was named to the third team, while Leann Clark was named to the fourth team for the Lady Wolves. Also named to the Class D all-state team were Bolton’s Olivia Seamans (fourth team) and Fort Ann’s Kayleigh Foran (fourth team).
In Class A, Niskayuna senior Meghan Doyle was selected as the Class AA Co-Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Also named all-state in Class AA were Shenendehowa’s Makala Foley (second team), Guilderland’s Lauren Kogelmann (second team), Shaker’s Kate Essepian (third team), Niskayuna’s Sophia Constantine (third team), Shenendehowa’s Katherine Benson (fourth team), Guilderland’s Emily Center (fifth team) and Niskayuna’s Marika Comtompasis (fifth team).
Queensbury’s Brittany LaPlant and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Morgan Burchhardt were named first-team Class A all-stars.
Also named to the Class A all-state team were Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Morgan Loder (second team), Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake’s Meghan Malone (second team), Averill Park’s Kelly Donnelly (fourth team), Lansingburgh’s Alexis Whalen (fifth team).
