Significant snowfall could hit local area

Snowfall of between 6 to 12 inches is expected to hit the Capital Region within the next 48 hours, National Weather Service Meteorologist Ian Lee said this morning

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a winter storm watch is set for an area that includes Fulton, Montgomery and Hamilton counties. The watch is scheduled to take effect starting late Tuesday night and last through Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lee, the storm will be a 12- to 18-hour event, dumping anywhere from 6 inches to 12 inches across the area.

Drivers are warned the snow could impede their commute Wednesday, a news release said.
