Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Hawkins

Elizabeth “Liz” Hawkins, 63, passed away Jan. 30, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to John and Bridget Luffman. Elizabeth was born on Feb. 1, 1950, one of seven children. She is survived by her mother, Bridie Luffman; sisters, Mary Bradford, Jean (Emie) Razzano; and brothers, John Luffman, Danny (Lena) Luffman and Kevin Luffman; her two daughters, Kelly (Patrick) Viscosi and Catherine “Katie” Hawkins; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Liz was predeceased by her father and brother, Brian Luffman; as well as two loving husbands, “Jamesey” and Skip.

Liz was an amazing mother, wife, sister and friend. She was extremely creative. She was a crafter of all trades. She had a green thumb. She collected antique dolls and music which she treasured.

Liz was a high spirited, witty and strong woman who endured many hardships along the way that would break most people but she never stopped moving forward. She always remained positive with her head held high.

Liz was the president of the resident council at Fulton Center where she resided for the last six years. She was a great resident advocate. She took pride in the planning and caring for the flower garden there. She was always trying to help others.

Liz is walking (which she has not done in 12 years) in heaven. She will be so sorely missed. The world will not be the same without her but we were so fortunate to have her while we did. Liz has donated her body to Albany Medical Center, continuing to help others even in her death. There will be no services per Liz’s request.
