Chief: No one hurt in Perth fire

PERTH – A fire that destroyed a home on Nadler Road and displaced two adults was severe but caused no injuries, Perth Volunteer Fire Company Chief Pete Watrobski said.

“When we got to the scene, we had flames coming out of the basement windows that were 10 feet high,” Watrobski said of the fire, which started late Tuesday night at 235 Nadler Road. “The first floor was also engulfed.”

Watrobski said this morning the department is still unsure how or where the fire started because it was destroyed to the foundation.

However, he said the cause of the fire is not suspicious.

He said the call came in about 11:30 p.m. and his crew was on the scene until nearly 5 a.m. Wednesday.

He said no firefighters or residents were injured, although he said the residents had a “tough time” getting out because of heavy smoke.

Watrobski said he isn’t sure what the two adults were doing when the fire began.
