Bruce F. Ovitt Jr.
Bruce F. Ovitt Jr., age 48, of Gloversville, was stricken at his residence on Monday, January 27, 2014.
He was born on December 4, 1965, in Schenectady, a son of the late Bruce F. Ovitt Sr. and Linda Hoffman Ovitt, who survives.
Bruce was a Class of 1984 graduate of Johnstown High School and attended Ohio State University. He worked at Key Mark as a quality control supervisor for over 15 years and was last employed for Champagne Demolition of Albany.
Mr. Ovitt was a proud award-winning bodybuilder in the 80s and 90s. He enjoyed listening to 80s Rock and collecting DVDs. He loved his dogs, Rasco, Molly and Pugsly like his own children and also loved Woody “Brutus” and Odie like his own. He cherished every moment with his family and will be most remembered for his sensitivity and compassion.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Lampman Ovitt, whom he married on December 31, 1986; one son, Ryan Ovitt of Gloversville; four daughters, Heather Ovitt and her companion Sergio Proietti, Lacy Ovitt and her companion Stanley Barnes, Ariana Tate and her husband Tracy and Alyssa Ovitt, all of Gloversville; mother, Linda Hoffman; one sister, Christine Collar; five adopted siblings, Cyndi Sparks, Gloria Hughes, Brian Ovitt, Carl Ovitt and Gary Ovitt; seven grandchildren, Loghan, Dominick, Giovani, Tracy Jr., Matthew, Leah and Lainey; and mother-in-law, Donna Lampman.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandparents that adopted and raised him, Avis and David Ovitt; and his grandson, Kace Floyd Russell Walter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown, with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, January 31, service from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
