Carl H. Dedicke

Mr. Carl H. Dedicke, 55, of Gloversville, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2014. Born January 13, 1959, in Gloversville, Mr. Dedicke was the son of the late George and Clarabelle Crandell Dedicke. He was educated in Ilion schools and served in the U.S. Army where he was a heavy equipment operator and an expert marksman. Carl also learned German for his foreign service there. While in the Army, he participated in the “Run for Your Life” program, which, as a member of the “50 Mile Club,” required running 50 miles. He was very proud of his service to our country.

A former independent roofer, Carl also worked for NAPA as a driver in the Johnstown store. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Daniel Dedicke of Gloversville, whom he married September 4, 2010. He is also survived by his sisters, Hope Field (Paul) of Frankfort, Amber Bennett (Larry) and Connie Emrick (Shaun), both of Gloversville; and a brother, George Dedicke (Loretta) of Kentucky. In addition to several nieces and nephews, Carl is also survived by special family, Kelly, Melissa, Kyla, Joshua and Atasha.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the American Legion, 200 N. Main St., Gloversville, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.
