Mass Food event canceled: official
GLOVERSVILLE – The Mass Food event scheduled to be held by volunteers Thursday has been canceled due to complication with the delivery, said Deborah Sharpe of the First Free Methodist Church.
The Mass Food event allows families to pick up produce, bread, milk, eggs and other food items at no charge. The food is provided by the church through the Regional Food Bank in Latham.
However, Sharpe said, the Food Bank needs to make sure there is adequate space in the parking lot before it sends a truck to make the delivery. She said officials hope the event will be able to take place starting in February.
Last week, the Senior Citizens Service Center of Gloversville & Fulton County Board of Directors decided to allow the First Free Methodist Church to use its facility on Thursday mornings during the winter months.
